Jeff Monias is Ojibwa/Cree heritage and was raised in Garden Hill, Manitoba. Much of his young life was spent working a trap line with his family. That early experience internalized his deep understanding of animal bone structure, growth, pattern of fur and feather, attitude, movement and habitat of the wildlife surrounding him.
Jeff paints wildlife not from photograph nor sketch, but from his memory and heart. He has sold many of his works to corporations, galleries and private collectors. In 2010 Jeff was honoured to be a member of an elite group of ten Aboriginal Manitoba Artists invited by VANOC to create a sculptural installation at the site of the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, BC.
