Maxine Noel Appointed to the Order of Canada
We would like to congratulate gallery artist, Maxine Noel, on her recent appointment to the Order of Canada!
Rideau Hall said in a statement Noel will be recognized for her “unique work in visual arts and for her advocacy of the creative expression of Indigenous communities.”
In a statement to the London Free Press Maxine said; “My art is the way I offer healing to the worlds around me, worlds sitting so often on the cusp of destruction and brutality. Their health and their healing are responsibilities we all must take up, each of us finding the work we need to do, and then doing it well and fully.”
