The Bearclaw Gallery is pleased to present: We Walk Together an exhibition of new works by Maxine Noel and Nancy Desjarlais
Opening reception Saturday May 28, 2022 from 2-4PM. Nancy Desjarlais will be in attendance.
“I have always celebrated the power of women in my work. Women are portrayed with strength, pride, wisdom, compassion and resilience. My people share a prophecy that foretells of a tumultuous dark time where there is a disconnect from the living world; where humans, animals and the environment are threatened. It is after this dark time that women will rise into a place of power and where peace will be realized. This is what I have been told and I believe that time is now.” – Maxine Noel (Ioyan Mani)
“Nature impels my creativity. It is a source that flows, like water, between the hard spaces and into the soft places of my being. This wellspring of energy inspires me to create paintings that interpret feelings of peacefulness, reflection, reverence and at times, whimsy. In many of my paintings I depict women in nature. Like seeds that have broken open, the women in my paintings are quietly growing and inhabiting the environment that is our home.” – Nancy Desjarlais
View the works on the website after May 26. The exhibition runs through to June 8.
