New Artist – Eli Poitras
The Bearclaw Gallery is pleased to welcome local abstract artist Eli Poitras.
“A human being is an animal born without wisdom. Gifted with the burden of exercising free will in a world of absurd and chaotic forces, an ignorant mind seeks to create forms where none exist. In harnessing chaos and giving it names we find that the formless and meaninglessness are non-conceptual. To have no form is not to exist, to have no meaning is not to be known. A drop of green paint on a blue field becomes an island, a streak of red becomes a flame. The human mind appeals to nature for survival, nature itself nurtures the ignorant soul for propagation. Knowing nothing, I have already been taken from the moment of birth into a beautiful prison of flesh. I consume the colours of the world, and find in them meaning, where none otherwise exists. Meaning that comes from knowing, and remembering, every time I see anything.” – Eli Poitras
